About
Hi! I am so happy that you have found my little store. My name is Brooke and I am the artist. :)
About 2 years ago, while serving as a Summer Missionary at Camp Cove Crest, a friend of mine suggested that I start drawing in prayer. Inspired by my teammates hearts and the beauty they shared with me about their prayer lives, I began drawing away.
What started as little doodles soon became full illustrations; adventures that Jesus and I would go on together. In prayer, art was more than an outlet, but an expression of my love for Jesus and his love for me.
After sharing these illustrations with my loved ones, I felt encouraged to share them with more people in a tangible way. That's Where 14th Market was born!
I hope that my art reminds you of the perfect love and mercy of our Heavenly Father. AMDG, for the greater glory of God.
Why 14?
I’ve always had a devotion to St. Maria Goretti and have been inspired by her story:
At the age of 12 she was violently murdered for protecting her purity in the name of Jesus. Lying in her death bed she chose to forgive him and 6 years after her death she appeared in the cell of her attacker and handed him 14 white lilies.
14 white lilies, a symbol of her forgiveness and love.
Even at the age of 12, she saw Christ in the most broken. The power of her mercy transformed her attacker’s life! He later converted, attended St. Maria’s canonization with her mother, and often said that “Maria’s forgiveness saved me.”
Maria lived an ordinary life with an extraordinary faith. She offered the same mercy and love that Christ offers to each of his children.
Her story has inspired me for many years. I like to hold little reminders of her story to remind me to love others as she did, even in much smaller ways.
So in hopes of venerating her and honoring Christ’s perfect love, I chose 14 as my art’s name sake.
